A user guide to social media.

Twitter is swiftly developing its own lingo.  Here is a glossary to get you started.

1. b/c = because. Just….because.
   
2. BTW = By The Way. An easy way to add an aside.
   
3. DM = Direct Message. The term for Twitter’s e-mail. “DM me” means take the discussion private.  “Twettiguette” compels users to move along or involved conversations to DMs.
   
4. FTF = Face To Face. A meeting in person.
   
5. IMHO = In My Humble Opinion: the “H” can also stand for honest, IMHO.
   
6. IRL = In Real Life.  Everything you read via Twitter may not be true IRL.
   
7. JV = Joint Venture. A collaborative effort among Twitterers.
   
8. LMK = Let Me Know. The sender desires a response.
   
9. OH = Overheard. The sender is passing along someone else’s remarks; commonly used at conferences or while traveling.
   
10. RT = Retweet. A tweet that has been forwarded; an updated on FWD.
