Tips for Quick and Easy Online Registration
- Have your AHA membership number and a credit card ready.
- Previous Scientific Sessions registrants: Have your username and password ready.
- New Scientific Sessions online registrants: Be ready to create a username and password.
- Enable all cookies (Internet – Tools – Internet Options – Privacy)
- Registering for someone else? Have all the information above and know the registrant’s medical specialty, registration fee category, hotel preference(s), arrival/departure dates, and Saturday sessions, and/or council event choices, if any.
AHA/ASA Professional Membership
- To qualify for priority housing beginning on June 4, your membership status must be active and current by May 23.
- To qualify for the reduced membership registration rate, membership status must be active and current by Sept. 30.

Note: If you become a member by Sept. 30, you will be eligible for the member registration rates. Please give our system two or three days to recognize your member status before registering. If you register and then become a member, or upgrade to a different membership level, we cannot refund the difference in the registration fees.

Requirements for discounted rates
- Student/Trainee – must be full-time medical, nursing or graduate student, or full-time fellow (postdoctoral/clinical research) or house officer enrolled in a training program. Badge reads “Student/Trainee.”
- Technician– must be full-time laboratory technician, research technician, or cardiovascular technologist. Members and Nonmembers pay same rate. Badge reads “Technician”.
- Nurse, Paramedic or EMT – must be Premium or General Professional Member of the AHA/ASA, and full-time practicing licensed and/or certified nurse, paramedic or EMT. Badge reads “Nurse/Nurse Practitioner” or “EMT/Paramedic” respectively.
Note: Nonmember nurses, paramedics or EMT’s who join at the Early Career level are not eligible for the discounted rates.
- Early Career Member - category is restricted to investigators, clinicians or health professionals who have completed training with in the last five years. Also applies to physicians or scientists in their first five years after faculty appointment. Badge reads “Early Career”.
Note: Discounted rates are only available to Members in this category.
- Premium Emeritus – category is limited to professional members 65 years or older who have requested and received emeritus status from the association before registering.
- If you join or renew at the General Professional level, you do not receive the discounted registration fee benefit. A special discounted registration fee is offered only to nurses, EMT’s or paramedics who join at this level.
- Spouse/Adult Family Member badge permits access to the Exhibit Hall only. If a spouse/family member also plans to attend sessions each day, then he/she must register separately as a professional attendee.
Verification Information
The following must provide verification when registering to receive a discounted registration rate:
- Technicians
- Nonmember Students and Trainees
Online registrants receive verification instructions during the registration process.
Faxed or mailed forms must be accompanied by verification; therefore, phone registration cannot be accepted.
One of the following must be submitted with the form:
- Current license or certificate
- Student ID
- Letter written on official letterhead and signed by a department head, mentor or supervisor
If you join at a different level and/or register in a different category and then later submit verification, the association will not refund the difference.
Sharing Housing
If family members (or professional colleagues) registering separately wish to share a hotel room, one registrant should complete the hotel accommodation section of the registration process, list the name of the family member (or colleague) sharing the room and pay the $250 hotel deposit in addition to the registration fee. The family member (or colleague) should register and indicate that he/she is sharing a room with the registrant who has made the hotel reservation. No additional hotel deposit is necessary.
Refund/Cancellation Policies
Registration Refund Cancellations:
Oct. 10, 2008 – Deadline to receive a full refund (less a $50 administrative fee). Experient must receive your cancellation in writing. After this date, no refunds will be issued.
Important: If you must cancel your registration, you cannot transfer it or substitute another name for your name. A name change is considered a cancellation. After Oct. 5, any registration materials received must be returned to Experient before a refund will be issued. Note: Council luncheon/dinner tickets are nonrefundable and non transferable.
Hotel Room Cancellations:

Experient will continue to accept cancels, name and date changes and additional reservations based on availability. Please contact Experient directly for your housing needs.

Oct. 23-Oct. 28
Reservations are being transferred to the various hotels. No changes or cancellations can be made at this time. For new reservations, you will need to contact the hotel directly for their availability. We cannot guarantee availability or rate.

After Oct. 28
Call the hotel directly for all housing needs.
Reminder: Cancellation policy is seven days prior to Arrival. Failure to cancel seven days prior to your arrival will result in a loss of your hotel deposit.
International groups
International Groups of 10 or more cannot register through this online process. It is for individual registration only. For information on international group registration, please contact heartgroups@experient-inc.com.
